Monsoon Rainfall Clocks by John Cook

These ‘Monsoon Rainfall Clocks’ describe the monthly rainfall totals between 1905-2015 for India, Bangladesh, Myanmar and the UK. Each gradated coloured curve represents one year, its distance from the clock centre, divided into 12 month segments, indicates the total amount of rainfall received in that month measured in millimetres.
Using the UK for reference, these clocks aim to communicate the differing seasonal rainfall patterns and amounts between these monsoonal locations, as well as the extreme variability and outliers amongst them.
