All By Myself? by Emily De Padua

Created in 2020, this data visualization documents my moods, activities, occasional thoughts, and interactions while following stay at home orders during those early months of the COVID-19 Pandemic. The concept of this visualization came from my own personal concerns over my mental health as a single person living alone and coping with an extended amount of time in physical social isolation. I designed this work as an almost interactive scavenger hunt where narratives can be found scattered across multiple views and hidden in the tooltips to hover for all the little details I included to capture this very specific period in my life. As you explore this visualization, I hope you come away with what I ultimately learned while building it--that the depth of our solitude depends on our definition for being "alone."
