浮流边缘 Float Flow Edge by Luxun Academy of Fine Arts

In the process of contemporary urbanization in China, new workers are the main body and practitioner of urban space construction. However, there is no room for them to live in the beautiful city they have built. The ensuing problems, such as unpaid wages, old-age care for the elderly, left-behind children and medical treatment, have become the intractable problems of the current society. In the field of art creation, most works focus on the concern and expression of left-behind children, but this work explores the unstable and unequal spatial mobility and potential psychological reality of the underage children of migrant workers living with their parents.
Based on exploring the psychological problems of migrant children from the perspective of big health, the work takes the neglected local population as the intervention point, and the migrant children as the research object, presenting the psychological state, adaptation and sense of unease of migrant children in the changing environment. In the frequent change of the new environment, their life, study, psychology, living conditions have changed, and then affect their future life style, ideological understanding and values. The inspiration of the work comes from the two keywords of "flow" and "movement", and the form of dandelion is the main way of expression. Dandelion will be blown in the wind by external forces, just like the life of floating children. The dandelion element is used to symbolize the floating children one by one, presenting the social issues related to the floating children's psychology and security. At the same time, in terms of expression technique, from the perspective of children, the warmth and warmth are expressed by hand drawing with innocence. Through this work, I hope to let more people know and pay attention to migrant children, so as to inject a little warmth into their lives. Special thanks to: The New Citizens Program.
