How Incarcerated Parents Are Losing Their Children Forever by Anna Flagg
The separation of immigrant families dominated headlines in 2018. But as we uncovered, a different family separation crisis has been unfolding in plain sight for years.
In a multi-year investigation published in partnership with The Washington Post, The Marshall Project revealed that incarcerated parents who have not committed any kind of child abuse or neglect have their children permanently taken from them at higher rates than those who’ve abused their kids.
