How States Have Voted in US Presidential Elections by Alice Feng

This is a piece I made before the 2016 election to explore how US states have voted in the past 13 presidential elections. The visualization shows what party won the state's electoral votes and the share of the vote they received. Users can hover over each circle to see the exact breakdown of votes. Through this visualization, one can see how recent a phenomenon swing states are; in fact many states swung between voting for one party and the other in past elections and indeed sometimes even gave their votes to third party candidates.
